First Christmas Party

The weather in Cairns was a bit dodgy yesterday so one of the mums hosted the Christmas Party. Great fun, Christmas carols playing, babies playing, lots of food as we all took along a plate. We gathered up all of the bubs and handed out the Secret Santa presents they were not to sure what to make of them, with assistance they got the presents open and all started playing with their new toys.

Not Alot

I hosted the mummy club on Friday, all went well, all the babies are growing up, they have all turned into little people not really babies anymore.

This coming Tuesday the mummys have organised a Christmas party with a secreat santa, weather permitting we will be heading down to the Esplanade and it will be held under a nice shady tree.

Wednesday is the last swimming lesson of the year, Levi received a his first certificate, detaling all of the activites covered during lessons. He is loving the lessons and has improved ten fold, he loves going under the water, kicking and paddeling - it is fantastic, I am really happy, would highly reccomend lessons to any mother cconsidering it.

Santa Ordeal

Being Levi`s first Christmas I was keen to get a photo with Santa. He had slept, been feed, dressed in a new outfit, and had a happy disposition. We got to the shop and Santa was just setting up we were second in line.

Santa was a nice fella, chatting and making jokes, the photographer was ready so I put Levi on Santa`s lap. Oh my, the scream, the face went red, not happy at all, he was horrified. Latched onto me and did not want to go anywhere near Santa, the only solution was for me to be in the photo, sitting on the arm of Santa`s chair and Levi on my lap.

Loves Mummys Sunnies

Food Strike

I have never had any problems feeding solids to Levi, last week for no apparent reason he decided that he would not eat turning his head away, tightly holding his lips closed and dropping his finger food off the side of the highchair. This did worry me however I did not make a big deal out of it, and after two days he started eating again.

Totally Amazed!

This morning while eating breakfast at Granny`s house I looked over at the young man and thought....... geese you are pretty high up, got up closer and he was climbing the steeps to the bedrooms, he has mastered his technique today and is zooming up the steeps.

Even Babies Have Bad Days

It is good to know that even babies have bad days, young Levi had a shocker of a day on Monday, woke up way to early, had a couple of falls - bit his lip, went face first into the garden and his left eye filled with dirt Granny and I had to hold him down in an attempt to flush it out, and all this happened before 9am.

Swimming Lesson Photos

Today Uncle kindly came along to swimming lessons and took some great photos. The lessons went well, it is starting to heat up here in Cairns so it is something to really look forward to each week.
The above photo is taken prior to the lesson, gazing in at the pool

On another note, Levi`s 2 front top teeth have finally broken through his gums, so hopefully we are over the pain for a little while. This lot of teeth seemed to take a couple of weeks to come through.

Day Care

I have been fortunate enough to secure 1 day a week in childcare. Today was the first day, I have opted to slowly introduce him with half days. The day care mum (DCM) and I went to school together, and have remained close friends.

I dropped him off this morning and the DCM took him over to the other children and instructed me to go, oh it was heart wrenching, I shed a couple of tears driving away. I picked him up at noon, all went well, he was a bit teary after his morning nap and a bit grizzly on arrival (his two top teeth are just about through the gum) he ate his snack however is refusing to drink the bottle of formula.

Poppy Guru kept me busy so the time flew.

The Climbing Monkey

I wonder the thought process of a baby and their problem solving skills, they seem to cotton onto things quickly. Today out of the blue Levi has decided that he will attempt to climb up lower objects to get to items that are put out of his reach.

Baby Food

I have been preparing my own baby food to feed Levi, he loves his food, can't get enough. I purchased a jar of food that sounded appetising gees was I wrong! I had a taste and oh it was awful, Levi had a taste and refused to eat it, I could hardly blame him, so our dog got a little treat with dinner and Levi got some home cooked food.

Swimming Lesson # 3

Today was Levi's third swimming lesson and the first time to put his head under the water. Finally he crashed out after the lesson, the other mum's have said their babies sleep for over a hour after swimming, I was feeling buggered too.

I am enjoying the swimming lessons, I feel confident with him in the water with me, am learning the nursery rhyme songs, just over all enjoying them.

Swimming Lessons

Yesterday Levi began swimming lessons, great fun for the both of us. The lesson was half an hour, they involve lots of singing and encouragement, and wore the both of us out. Looking forward to next week, hope to get some photos.

Update

It has been a while since I have done post, Levi and I have been ill, much better now, needless to say that we haven't been up to a lot.

I hosted the mummy club on Friday the 13 October, great to catch up with all the mummy's and bubs, Granny made a yummy cake which was a huge hit everyone loved it - thank you Granny.

Levi is now confidentiality pulling himself to the standing position however he has a little trouble getting down. He has out grown his baby bath, I have continued to bath him in it for the convenience to standing, I moved him into the shower yesterday, I can fill it with water - he loved it had a ball splashing and moving about.

We are starting swimming lessons this Wednesday, really looking forward to it. Will let you know how it goes.

Irritable, Grumpy & Dribbling

Irritable, grumpy and dribbling that is the best way to describe the little prince today. I think more teeth are on the way, I hope that they appear quickly! Thank goodness for teething gels and rusks.

In Big Hurry

Levi only just started to crawl a couple of weeks ago and now he is keen to start to try and walk! He still hasn't totally mastered the crawl and he is pulling himself up to the standing position.

Also an update on the swimming lessons, we haven't started yet, however have organised a group from Mummys Club to all start at the same time. I am really looking forward to starting.

Toothy Pegs

Wet Feet

On the weekend the family headed to the park for a bbq. There is a fresh water creek that runs along the park, I dipped Levi's feet in to see if he would like it, as soon as his feet got wet he started to scream!

Eljay on the move

Check him out

Mummy Club

I meet up with a group of new mothers every Friday, we all met at the local Community Centre where they held a weekly group for new mums and we have continued meeting on a regular basis after they finished.

I really enjoy meeting up with the ladies and watching the other babies grow, they are a great support and something to look forward to each week.

Levi is a very social baby and loves seeing the other babies especially the girls - most weeks he makes at least one of them cry, I think out of shock.

I think that Levi is teething again as last Friday I couldn't settle him so left them all in peace. Hopefully this coming Friday will be different.

First Time to Crystal Cascades

Today we (Great Uncle Paul, Granny, Uncle Paul + myself) decided to take Levi for his first swim to Crystal Cascades - which is in the rainforest, beautiful clear cold water.

I placed Levi in his bright yellow baby floatie in the shallow water which was ice cold he screamed, was not very impressed at all, we tried to settle him down to no avail. He did however enjoy playing among the rocks with the leaves.

I plan to start swimming lessons in a couple of weeks, I understand that the pool is heated, which he will hopefully enjoy more.

On The Move

In the last couple of weeks Levi has began to get around, this started with a army crawl - the arms doing all the work, it has now progressed and is now more like a crawl tucking his arms under his chin on his elbows and pushing with his legs, however he is still quite close to the ground. He has figured the layout of our home and is always heading to the bathroom - he loves bath time.

How old is Levi?

Lilypie 1st Birthday Ticker

Introduction

On a long drive from home one of the topics discussed was blogs. I do enjoy reading my family's blogs, I had never really thought about creating one until then.

I have decided to start a blog about my raising my son Levi. I hope that you enjoy reading and look forward to your feedback and or any helpful advise.
