What Do You Want To Do When You Grow Up

This morning while we were getting ready, Levi was talking about going to Dad's work, so I asked him, "What do you want to do when you grow up?" He replied, "I don't want to grow up, I want Santa to come."

Stitches

It had to happen some day - would have opted for latter rather than sooner.

It is hot hot hot here in NQ, so headed to Crystal Cascades for a dip mid morning Saturday, it was just what we needed and we were all feeling re-energised, so went on a little adventure over the other side of the bank, we were walking around the rocks as there were some tiny rock pools, I requested that Levi hold my hand - his reply was "NO" I was just about to grab is hand when he put his foot in one of the rock pools and slipped over on his back - hitting his head, ouch! Picked him straight up poor little thing was distraught, he had a large cut on the back of his head. He was a very brave boy has 3 stitches in the back of his head.

He has been doing very well he has only mentioned a couple of times that his head is sore, and is being very careful with how he moves his head.
At Crystals - prior to the accident - feeding the fish

Nice photo of the both of us - thought you might like to see

News

Well I have big news, I am seeing someone, Ben, he is great and am very happy, no doubt Granny MB has passed on the good news.

Saturday morning we headed up to Kewarra Beach - a beautiful clear morning, we got there early, morning walkers still strolling along the beach. The water was just right, the little fella having a ball once we got him past the small breaking waves - spinning him around on the surface of the ocean and Levi saying "more, more, more" and laughing, then a play on the beach and playground.

Movie Night

Last night decided to do something a bit different, I have been wanting to watch The Golden Compass since I knew it had been turned into a movie. A great set of books written by Philip Pullman. I saw that it was on special so ducked into the shops just before closing time - quite a good time to go I might ad, and located and purchased the dvd.

I sat down with Levi and together we watched the movie, I wasn't sure how he would go in front of the tv for well over an hour, however the movie captured his imagination and kept him interested, there were a couple of spots where he hoped up however was quickly drawn back to the movies, its characters and the plot. When Nicole Kidman who plays the character Mrs. Coulter appear on the screen Levi said "oh, mummy look at her" - with a twinkle in his eyes and a little smile on his face, his first little crush, so sweet.

I highly recommend the movie to anyone out there wanting something to watch, I was pleasantly surprised. The little fella even remembering and talking about it today - it is sure to be a favourite hopefully along with the books when he is a little older. It is PG rated.

Just thought I would put in a photo, loves his rocking horse see Granny's post mmvii.blogspot.com/2008/10/iron-horse, over the past couple of days he has become a bit of a dare devil, doing all sorts of tricks - standing up, backwards, one sided and so on.

An Afternoon Outing

We spent yesterday afternoon at the Cairns Tropical Zoo with a couple of Levi's mates.

Mum's been suggesting that I take Levi out there for ages, and I have been putting it off, didn't really have found memories of the place. Met Amanda and her two boys out there. Brought a year pass $46.50, children under 4 are free.

Headed in and just caught the tail end of the snake show, people were just patting the snake, Levi calls out "No touching snakes" then headed to the reptile house, Levi was wide eyed, must of been feed day, the snakes were very active, we even saw one starting to it's dinner, a mouse. Strolled around the park seeing all the animals then a stop for ice cream.

A great afternoon out, we really enjoyed ourselves and Levi has been chatting about it today.

The New Hair Do

This morning I decided to cut Levi's mop of beautiful curls, I didn't mind him having so much hair, it is the cradle scalp that I could not keep under control.

It was the most traumatic thing ever to happen and I am surprised that child welfare did not come knocking on the door with all the carry on the little man put on, my goodness it sounded terrible, we were out the back patio and he was whaling and sobbing loudly "NO, NO, NO MUM DON'T" I haven't done the best job but it will do. He would not come near me when we finished, he looked so hurt.

Granny to the rescue, scooped him up and got him in the car and over there for an ice cream, the world seemed to be a better place after that. However no talk about getting a hair cut. Traumatic memories.

Play School Live in Concert

Yesterday we attended our first concert, 'Play School Live in Concert,' it was fantastic. We went with one of the Mum's from the Mummy Club and her 2 boys, Riley & Ben. When the show started and one of the presenters from the show appeared on stage, Levi was ecstatic shouting "Hello Play School" he got right into all of the songs and just couldn't believe what was happening. A great show that just keeps it simple, highly recommend to everyone with little ones, look forward to going again when they are next in town.

Toilet Training

Finally seem to be getting somewhere with toilet training, I was beginning to think he would be in nappy's for the rest of his life! He has been weeing outside on the grass. We have been home this week as Levi has been unwell, maybe that helped with progress. I am just thankful that we are getting somewhere.

Max the Bear

Growing Up

Levi used the toilet for the first time last Thursday - only once, has not used it since, much to my disappointment, he seems to have become very attached to his nappy's!!! Any helpful hints very welcome.

Uncle Paul is up so that is a bonus for the little fella, so very happy to hang out with him. Today we were at Granny's and found Uncle's old bear Max, Levi claimed it straight away - my Max, holding him close to his chest.

Tomorrow will be a very exciting day for the little fella, Uncle's Birthday bash will at our house, he is a little party animal so no doubt will have a great time.

Backyard Veggie Patch

MDR created this massive veggie garden in the backyard, MB & I helping to shovel in some dirt. Levi was keen to give a hand - walking away with the tools. Has been complete since the weekend, will plant some seeds and herbs soon. Tonight when I got home notices a 4 legged animal had been walked across the patch.....

Pretty Beach

A lovely April Sunday to spend outdoors, what better place than the beach, Pretty Beach just past Ellis Beach heading north. We pretty much had the place to ourselves, from time to time a couple of people came by walking their dogs. There was a large shady tree, which we set up under, then beach and rocks, with little bays between the rocks for the little ones to run in and out.

There Is No Place Like Home

We returned home yesterday, direct flight from Adelaide. I do have to commend Jet Star on having my baggage out first both in Adelaide and Cairns. It was so nice flying into Cairns and see lush green surroundings - how very lucky we are. Flying to Adelaide was easier than the return trip with Levi. He was wrapped to get home, running off the plane and down towards the baggage area, as soon as he was out in the humidity his hair bounced back into curls.

At home he stripped off and ran outside to play in the dirt - getting covered in red dirt and reacquainting himself with his long lost toys.

Photos below are at Adelaide airport - Uncle Paul & Mami saw us off

Last Day in Adelaide

Our last day in Adelaide, an early morning flight tomorrow. We all headed into Adelaide city via the tram this morning - a great way to travel, meeting Uncle Paul at the museum. The museum is under reconstruction, all the kiddie interactive computers were not working, saw some interesting fossils and opals. We had lunch at a food court where Mami works - very busy. Then stopped in for coffee at Hudson's, Levi has mastered the phrase babycino during his stay here. Back in Glenelg we cruised around the main drag, headed down to the beach, Levi chased some birds and played on the beach, fondly known by Levi as "my sandpit," beautiful soft silky white sand.

Visit to the Adelaide Zoo

Today Granny & I took Levi to the Adelaide Zoo. We caught the tram from Glenelg into the city. An enjoyable morning was had, totally amazed by all of the animals. It is cooling down here, on the way back had to add an extra layer of clothing to the little fella.

The 2 Club

Levi's 2nd Birthday today, not long after he woke up right on cue he had a terrible 2 tantrum! He got over himself and has been pretty good since.

Uncle Paul & Mami organised a BBQ lunch, it was going to be at Brighton, however was blowing a gale so headed into the city to the botanical gardens, located a playground and BBQ and had the birthday there. The picnic area was decorated with balloons, streamers and a happy birthday banner, the guest of honour had a great time lapping up all of the attention.

Jet Setter

We arrived in Adelaide yesterday, a direct flight from Cairns, all up pretty smooth travelling, arriving 15 minuets early. Levi was looking forward to the plane ride, and had a great time, he got a window seat and enjoyed looking out at the clouds, standing up and checking out what was happening, he reported that people were sleeping. He ate for about the first half of the trip and then crashed.

He was stocked to see Granny, then Grandpa, what made his day was Uncle Paul & Mami walking up the street while we were on the balcony. We headed out and about to check out the surrounding area and beach, pretty funky area. Saw some camels and a pony at the beach. His batteries are fully recharged ready for another big day.

Birthday Bash @ Home

Yesterday we had friends over to celebrate Levi's upcoming 2nd Birthday, the Thomas'a, Poppy Guru, Aunty Jade & Uncle Clint. Everyone arrived around lunchtime. Levi was super happy to have friends over, and be the centre of attention.
